Standard Boarding

We currently offer boarding for our established clients, with separate accommodations for dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and pocket pets. All boarding facilities and bedding are washed and changed daily to ensure your pet is comfortable and clean. Dogs are leash-walked three times daily, and fed according to your schedule.  We recommend you bring your own food and any treats your pet is used to, and we will provide bedding and dishes.

With your permission, we will send you updates and/or pictures of your pet via text, email, or phone on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturday (excluding drop-off and pickup days).

Medical Boarding

Including the care indicated above, if your pet requires medical observation or administration of medications, our veterinary staff will ensure that their medical treatments and health is tended to. In addition, our veterinary team is available to address any medical concerns during our regular business hours, should they arise. This includes care for disabled, geriatric, diabetic and post-surgery patients.

We also offer Intensive Medical Boarding for pets requiring a greater degree of care, including care for those patients that need to be quarantined or isolated temporarily from other pets and/or humans in the household for medical reasons.

Additional Services

You may request a bath and/or nail trim during your pet’s stay.

Required Vaccinations

We require that all dogs and cats be current on the following vaccinations:

DA2PP (Canine Distemper)
Canine Influenza*
Bordetella (Kennel Cough)*

*Please note, dogs who have not previously been vaccinated for Canine Influenza and Kennel Cough will need to have an initial series of 2 vaccinations given 4 weeks apart for maximum coverage. To protect the health of our boarders we require patients receiving these initial vaccines to have the first vaccine given no less than one month prior to boarding.

FVRCP (Feline Distemper)

Vaccinations must be given at least 7 days prior to the check-in date (note requirements for kennel cough and canine influenza as listed above).  Vaccinations given less than 7 days prior, or vaccinations given for the first time that require a booster, will not provide your pet or other boarders with adequate protection.

If your pet has been vaccinated at another facility, we must have a copy of the current vaccination record in our file prior to your check-in day. It is your responsibility to make sure your previous veterinarian has faxed/emailed this record to us and that we have received it.

Additional Requirements

All pets should be spayed or neutered, over 6 months of age, and have a current Wellness Examination within the past year.  Appointments for overdue wellness exams must be scheduled and performed prior to boarding dates.

We also require all dogs and cats be current on veterinary approved flea and tick preventatives.  If your pet is not current we can administer treatment at the time of admittance.

Before making your boarding reservation, we recommend you tour our facilities to make sure they are the best suited for your pets and their needs.  In general our facilities are best suited for patients requiring medications, older and less active animals, and dogs trained to walk and eliminate on a leash.  Our setup may not meet the needs of some pets, such us puppies under 9 months of age or young and active dogs who need a lot of exercise and activity, dogs which are not house-trained or used to leash-walking, aggressive dogs, or dogs which  are easily stressed.  In these cases a house-sitter/pet-sitter or a larger boarding facility such as Hidden Acres (Rehoboth) may be a better alternative.

Boarding services are provided by reservation only.
Drop Off and Pick Up are Monday through Saturday only.  We do not provide boarding to patients under 6 months of age, and have limited availability for dogs over 5o lbs (early reservation may be needed). Please feel free to contact our hospital and speak to one of our veterinary staff members with any questions.

I highly recommend Bristol County Veterinary Hospital.  I trust them with my two dogs, and I have referred others that have been equally satisfied with the care that they provide.

I have just moved my pug and other family members. Millie needed her nails clipped. She gets very stressed out during this routine procedure. The old vet had three people restraining her and they always drew blood. At Bristol the staff became concerned and they held her for few hours while carefully clipping her nails and ensuring her well being. In a follow up visit she seemed happy to be there.

I have been going to Bristol County for almost eleven years. Dr. Ripp and Dr. Richards and the entire team have always been caring, professional, and provide exceptional care to our dogs. I always appreciate the quick return phone calls if I have asked a question and the personal care of speaking to either Dr. Ripp or Dr. Richards when bloodwork comes back (even on a Saturday!). Maddie & Jeter are not afraid of the vet because of the wonderful care and love they receive from everyone here. I wouldn’t take my dogs anyplace else!

I have used this vet as far back as I can remember. The staff is extremely kind. They know their job inside and out! I highly recommend anyone seeking a vet should call and try them out for yourself. GREAT!

Everyone who works at Bristol County is so nice. You can tell they hire people who enjoy and love animals. I always appreciate the care that both my dogs receive from the vets at Bristol County. Dr. Ripp and Dr. Richards and their assistants are wonderful. I always feel they listen to me and provide excellent feedback. Thank you to the entire staff at Bristol County!

Great care for your pets from a caring staff and top notch management! Any issues taken to management are taken seriously and quickly resolved, all in addition to skilled doctors and techs.

Foxy was treated like “gold” by the staff and Dr. Richards. Information concerning vaccinations and treatments were informative and helpful. As always, it was a great experience for Foxy, who loves all the attention she gets every time she goes to Bristol County Vet. Thanks for everything.

Each and every time I visit Bristol County Vet Hosp. myself and my dogs are treated with excellent care. Besides the excellent care we receive they make my dogs feel so very special. Each and every time we arrive they get very excited and want to run right in.
Also, anytime I call for advise or information everyone in the front is very helpful no matter how busy they are and answer all my questions or forward them to the doctor who in turn always returns my call the same day.
